Ugly Betty in USA and Susan Boyle in UK
May 5, 2009In our superficial world, wherein physical beauty and appearance are given the highest importance and wielded like weapons, it seems like people who do not posses beauty and alluring figures are not given any chance to prove their worth. Conventions of our hypocritical and cynical society tell us that appearance is everything. However, several people have proven time and time again that appearance, beauty and figures are just superficial, temporary things that fade away with time.
Two women had recently made me realize the extreme hypocrisy of the society we were living in. Susan Boyle and Betty Suarez are the modern epitome of the saying “Do not judge the book with its cover.” These ladies had awakened the scornful and cynical society. They become the inspiration of people who are always put into the background and being out of place in the world of beautiful and sexy.
Susan Boyle is a 47-years old woman who had unattractive, plain looks but armed with magical golden voice. People who like her are usually don’t given a chance, but alas, for the first time she was given a chance. With her talent she makes the audience scornful eyes swam in tears and smirking jaw drop in astonishment. Who would ever think that an old-frumpy woman would have a talent like that? Our judgmental society was humbled and awakens.
It is same case for Ugly Betty, she doesn’t have the looks to be lead star but she is a lead star. With her intelligence, wit, humor and extraordinary character Betty is a superstar. Ugly Betty is now on its third season, and still the undisputed most-watched dramedy (drama-comedy) in US. Ugly Betty Season 3 is still continuing rise above the challenge in television supremacy. This May 7, Ugly Betty is yet to rally its supreme record as the Ugly Betty Season 3 Episode 3: The Born Identity is to be shown.
Two women, one is a fictitious character and the other is a real, living and breathing both of them posses the quality of a heroine. A true heroine for all those who dare to dream, and believes on their dream.

Me and My Weird Bathroom Habit
March 20, 2009Others like kitchen some like living room but for me I always love bathrooms. Bathroom is best place to chill and to brainstorm. My friends find it odd that I love to solve complex problems while sitting like a queen on the toilet seat, I could actually sit on there for hours with my PDA or a notebook and pen on hands. Sometimes I even brought snacks in my bathroom. I know this sounds weird, but this is the weird ME.
With this weird habit of mine, I always make sure that my bathroom is always clean, orderly and well-designed. Because I am spending a long number of hours in my bathroom I always see to it that I have something beautiful to look at while staring on space and forcing ideas to squeeze out of my brainy brains.
Other people beautify their bathrooms because they believed that bathrooms are the showcase of how clean and how organized your house is. On my home creating beautiful bathroom is not for the sake of showcasing cleanliness and orderliness, on my home it is a MUST! I always make sure that my bathroom is perfect balance of beauty and functionality. Most of the things that I consider when upgrading and designing my bathroom are the tranquility, attractive colors that would suit my taste and comfortable facilities bring me the right energy and inspiration for my brainstorming or relaxation. For my peculiar taste in bathroom fixture, betterbathrooms.com is the place where I always look first.

On the 8th Day God Created Teachers
February 26, 2009During the all-important construction of the world God created the men and women of the 6th day. On the 7th day, as all we know, He rested. God rested on the 7th day, not to R & R but to prepare himself for the “most-important” job He was about to do the next day. For it was in the 8th day that God created a teacher. And so it was, on the 8th day God created teachers.
Although taken among men and women, teachers are special. God made several modification and enhancement upon this creation. In general, God made the teacher more robust and durable than other men and women he created on the 7th day. Included in modification is the teacher’s ability to arise at very early hours and go to bed late, and that is with no rest in between. They have been enhanced to endure being locked in an air-tight room with 35-50 little monsters or giggling-flirting Hannah Montana wannabee teenagers. It is included in their system the ability to check 200 terms papers over Christmas and Easter vacation.
It was embedded into their modification the enormous amount of patience. Patience when the little monsters called students are too hyperactive to listen. Patience to wait for the government supply who always a term late. Patience to repeat the same direction for about 10 times.
The All-knowing God gave the teacher a heart bigger than the average men and women heart. For they task to wipe away the tears of the neglected, insecure and lonely student whom nobody asked to the prom. They have a heart big enough to forgive students who are caught cheating several times over. A heart big enough to love kid who screams, “I hate this class – it’s boring!” and love student who never greet good morning or say thank you.
Teacher’s are made to tough but gentle too. Tough enough to impose disciple but gentle enough to care. And lastly, God gave the teacher an abundant supply of hope. For God knew that the teacher would always be hoping. Hoping that the students would one day learn to do arithmetic correctly… hoping that salary would not be late…hoping for more non-working holidays…hoping for deliverance.
When God finished creating the teacher, He looked and admired the work of His hands. And God saw that the teacher was good. Very Good. And God smiled, for when He looked at the teacher, He saw into the future. He knew that the future is in the hands of the teachers.

Zenni Optical on New York Times
February 13, 2009
Zenni Optical on New York Times?! Yeah, you right it right. My favorite optical store was mentioned on the one of the most prestigious newspaper in the world The New York Times. Zenni Optical was cited on the Health corner of the NY Times specifically on the Money & Policy column. The column title was Seeing Straight Without Breaking Bank. I would like to quote the paragraph in which the ZenniOptical.com was mentioned.
But if you want a cheap pair of backup glasses, try zennioptical.com, which sells generic frames, including lenses with antiscratch coating, for as little as $8. That’s a bargain considering the average frame price is $118, according to VisionWatch, which publishes research on the eye care market.
It is really true that Zenni Optical offers Prescription eyeglasses for only $8! I bought my Full Rim Metal Alloy with Spring Hinge (it’s on the picture above) for my eyeglasses on their shop 5 months ago and its really working well for me. They offer great eyewear for very reasonable price I guess that is the reason why they were specifically mentioned on New York Times.
10 Non-Verbal Ways to Say I Love You
February 11, 2009How the lifetime couples remain inlove with each other for so long? How did they keep the flame alive? Well, they should know the prime importance of saying, speaking, and showing love. Through a variety of ways they consistently, clearly, and powerfully send important messages of love and admiration to their partner. Here are 10 great ways to say “I love you.”
1. Apply the three C’s.
Seize every opportunity to compliment, commend, and congratulate your partner. Think about your partner’s personality and actions. Identify those things that are “excellent and praiseworthy” and compliment your partner for them. Lavish him with praise, heap words of appreciation upon her. Never forget that a sincere compliment is a tremendous gift.
2. Turn off the TV (or computer).
Most couples are extremely busy. Both usually work outside the home and must juggle other demands for their time such as parenting, household managements, socialization and such. This means the couples have very little time spending together. Many couples use television (computer) as a time to relax. However, TV can obstruct the relationship. Turn off the TV and spend more time talking and sharing with each other the worries and joys of the day have been.
3. Have a fair division of labor.
With more and more couples working outside the home, it is only fair and right to share household responsibilities equally. Resentment builds quickly when one partner feels that burden of doing the most of the household chores. Show your love to your partner by making sure that there is a fair division of labor in your home.

Pioneering the Spirit of Entrepreneurship
February 10, 2009Greatness starts with a humble beginning. Every a milestone starts with a single step. Most of the world’s great business leaders start with a humble beginning as young entrepreneur. An entrepreneur is basically a risk taker type of person. They are the one with bold and aggressive ideas who assumes the responsibility and risk for a business operation with the expectation of making a profit. An entrepreneur is a gambler, a risk taker. If the business succeeds, the entrepreneur reaps the reward of profits; if it fails, he or she takes the loss and starts all over again.
One of the most prominent entrepreneurs of all time is Henry Ford. During the late 20th century Henry Ford gamble to put up a business in the midst of giant corporations and conglomerates and he succeed in his quest. The spirit of entrepreneurship among the youth should be given emphasis.
There are non-profit foundations such as Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation that supports the essence of Young Entrepreneurship. The foundation focuses on promoting entrepreneurship and education. The Kauffman Foundation is working to further understand the phenomenon of entrepreneurship, to advance entrepreneurship education and training efforts, to promote entrepreneurship-friendly policies, and to better facilitate the commercialization of new technologies by entrepreneurs and others, which have great promise for improving the economic welfare of our nation.
