The Gadgets of the Rich and Famous (The Multi-Million Gadgets)

October 30, 2008

The rich and elite upper-class people have always had status symbols – expensive fast cars, expensive jewelries, expensive designer wardrobes, mansions, yacht, exclusive clubs to name a few.  But today is the era of new technology, the digital age there are new generations of millionaires.  These new generations of elite rich are not contented with the usual brand of accessories and trimmings that spoke MONEY in caps lock, bold, italic, underlined statement.  This new moneyed class wants state-of-the-art enormous television, the most powerful computers, finest audio equipment, opulent cell phones that spoke exclusivity and flashy techie gadgets.  Aside from that, they want aesthetics and customization to match.

Let start the list with the “The Golden Apple”, it is a customized MacBook plated in 24-karat gold and with diamond accents.  A company name ComputerChoppers offers its wealthy clients personalized laptops with customized plating in anything from 24-karat gold to elegant black nickel which transforms the ordinary looking computer to a sleek symbol of wealth.  The estimated cost for the plating, painting and etching work will set you back between $1200 and $1500 that is only for the customization you still have to pay for the MacBook itself.

If you have a very expensive computer, then it should be match with a pricey mouse.  The Swiss Pat Says Now manufactures the world’s most expensive mouse.  Their Diamond Flower mouse model cost about $25,000.  This clicking and pointing input device is encased in 18-karat white gold encrusted with 59 brilliant-cut diamonds in the shape, of course, of a flower.

You’ve got the Mighty-Pricey Mouse then you must also have these though keyboard.  The Stealth Computer’s 2000-IS-DT-PS/2 keyboard model is a 114-key Windows keyboard that cost $2,200 USD.  This keyboard model is said to endure anything nature can throw at it, except the bubbling lava.  This very expensive keyboard has a stainless-steel enclosure that is corrosion (rust) resistant and can survive 100 percent humidity, temperatures ranging from -40 to 194 degrees Fahrenheit, windblown dust, spray from a hose, and ice forming on its casing.  They only thing that mystified me is that, if your keyboard can survive through this weather conditions, can you?

You have your expensive laptop, expensive keyboard and expensive mouse now let’s add the expensive LCD projector for your expensive PowerPoint presentation.  The Sony SRXS110 has a display resolution of 4096×2160 pixels, commonly called as 4K resolution.  It is actually designed for digital cinema projection, but still overqualified because its top project rate is 60 frames per second (compared to 24 fps), and few films are actually shot and distributed in 4K.  But you could easily “up-rezzes” to lower-quality images, so you can watch your DVD collection on it.  The asking how much?  Well, it’s just between $70,000 and $100,000.

You want to listen to you top-picks music on your gold and diamond encrusted laptop but you don’t want others to be disturbed your choice of music. Well, you could use the Ultrasone’s Edition 9 model, a hand-made limited-edition headphone that uses S-Logic surround-sound system.  It could immerse you in three-dimensional audio and protect your hearing by reducing 40% of the actual volume level while maintaining the perceived volume and electromagnetic field radiation is reduced by nearly 100%.  The head and ear padding are made of leather from the Ethopian hair sheep, and the earcups prided chrome nameplates with a black chrome trim.  Simply prepare a check worth $1,499 for you to have it.

To complete your computer input-output and storage ensembles, you should have this Flashy Flash Drive from SwissMemory Prestige.  This 1GB (could be upgraded anytime you want) flash drive can be folded into its housing made of 925-sterling silver or an 18-karat yellow and white gold.  You could also have their Pave model which features diamonds on top of yellow and white gold.  The flash drive can be removed for easy upgrading and still use the flashy housing.  It cost about $23,000.

iPod is a craze that even those filthy-rich new breed of VIPs were caught.  To cater the need of these rich kids for superior performance there is the Triode-tube iPod speakers which have internal vacuum tubes.  Triode-tube iPod speakers cost for “only” $4,000.00 US dollars.  And there is the Kaleidescape, $27,000.00 movie and music server for streaming content to the state-of-the-art centralized media players which could play movie and music throughout the regal mansions.

Your techie ensemble is not complete if you don’t have this thing, the Cellphone.  And we’re not talking here of a plastic-covered mobile phone with a lifespan of less a year commonly used by yuppies.  I’m talking about the luxurious cell phones crafted by Vertu, a phone manufacturer and retailer that offer variety and exclusivity to its clients.  One of its products is a diamond encrusted Nokia phone for $73,000.  You could also have their original Bejeweled Signature model which is crafted in rose gold and pink diamonds.  Recently, Vertu launched its new Signature collections which have a solid-gold case, a “sea of sapphire” face, a gold SIM drawer and 4.75 carats of ruby bearings.  Salivate over this Guinness World Records holder GoldVish phone it is the most expensive in the world–1 million euros, or about $1.3 million US dollars. The odd-shaped device is made out of 18-carat white gold and features 1,800 diamonds totaling 120 carats.  Or you may want this “cheaper” Parisian jeweler House of Bucheron linked up with Nokia subsidiary Vertu on this limited-edition series of eight cobra phones, which include a two-carat pear-cut diamond, a one-carat round diamond, two emerald eyes and 439 rubies totaling 21 carats.  This only cost $310,000 US dollar.

If you could afford to buy all these expensive gadgets you could actually fed the thousands of hungry people in a year or could send hundreds of kids to school all throughout to college.  Think about it, you’ll be leaving a legacy.
