Captivating Capiz Dance Festival

Captivating Capiz held its annual Dance Festival last September 23, 2008 at Dinggoy Roxas Civic Center, Roxas City.  This is in connection with the CAPRISA (Capiz Private Schools Associations, Inc.) Week.  The dance festival was participated by 22 different private schools in the province.  The competition was classified into 3 levels, the Elementary, Secondary and Tertiary level.  They competed in the following events:  Philippine Folk Dance, Contemporary Dance and Dance Sports (Modern Standard and Latin American Standard).

Skimboarding on Captivating Capiz

Have you experience skimboarding? Skimboarding is a newly popularized water sport.  It is somewhat a similar to surfing, but instead of using an expensive surfboards it uses skim board and it is performed on the shallow part of shorelines where it floats on the small-breaking waves.  This sport is becoming popular in Capiz, because of its flat shorelines it is ideal venue for skim boarding.  Skim boarders usually uses the homemade skim boards which makes it more attractive to kids and teens because it is economical but there’s lot of fun in it.   This is one of the favorite hobby of the Captivating Capiz Zinnia and The Seer.

Captivating Capiz: The Profile

The “Captivating Capiz” is located in Panay Island which is situated in the hinterlands of Visayan Sea.  The province runs on the northern coastal area of Nothern Panay Island which she shared it with her twin, Province the of Aklan.   Its neighboring provinces are the Iloilo, Antique and Aklan in which they share the entire Panay Island.  The province coast is flat and irrregular which is ideal for beach resorts.  It also have extensive swamps and marshlands where it gets its major resources, the seafoods.  The geography of Capiz is extended towards the southwest in the mountainous interior of Panay Island.  

 It is composed of 16 municipalities namely Cuartero, Dao, Dumalag, Dumarao,  Ivisan, Jamindan, Maayon, Mambusao, Panay, Panitan, Pontevedra, Pilar, Pres. Roxas, Sapian, Sigma and Tapaz   and one city which is the Roxas City.   Captivating Capiz is politically divided into two(2) districts, the first district is spreaheded by Cong. Antonio Del Rosario and the second district is being lead by Cong. Fredinel Castro.  The province is governed by Gov. Victor Tangco Sr.  The major dialect in this province is Hiligaynon (Ilonggo), and Tagalog as a the second language.  Capiz pride are its beaches, homemade products and seafoods. 

 

 

Captivating Capiz Zinnia

 Yes, you read it right and no, I don’t spell it wrong it is intended to be that way.  I entitled this post as Captivating Capiz Zinnia to give honor to the enchanting women of Capiz.  Capiz is a blessed with abundant natural resources, it boasted its water resources, beautiful landscapes, caves, and beaches.  Capiz is even dubbed as the “Seafoods Capital of the Philippines” because of its very abundant sea resources.  But what really makes Capiz enchanting?  What is more enchanting than women?  Resources that makes Capiz enchanting and bewitching is  its beautiful women.  I use the title Capiz Zinnia because Capizeña is comparable to a zinnia flower.  Zinnia is a beautiful flower, its simple elegance is captivating.   Like its namesake the Capizeña posses simplicity with elegance.  Zinnia is a diverse flower, it varies in different colors, structure, types and it can stand in harsh environment, it grows well in the wild as well in the protected greenhouses.  Its resistance to heat of the sun makes her perfect for the tropical climate. 

Just like the true Capizeña, who are beautiful and strong, simple yet elegant, her perseverance is amazing.  She can withstand hardships whatever life would throw to her like a real wildflower who can withstand its harsh environment.  Capiz should be thankful and very proud of its Captivating Capiz Zinnia.

Aside from its beautiful women, Capiz boasted its beautiful shorelines and beaches, and its beautiful made handicrafts.   Roxas City, the capital of Capiz, is sorrounded with beautiful shorelines and beaches which could be very captivating to those who loves water adventure.  In this beaches you can enjoy swimming, boating, and skimming boarding to all your heart content without worrying of the money aspect of it.  Here’s sample of what I’m trying to tell you.  I guess, the picture speaks of thounsands word.  

     

     

Capiz  is also known for its beautiful handicrafts, the Captivating Capiz Shell.  This beautiful handmade home accesories are made of peos shell which is abudant in the shores of Capiz.  I would rather give you the picture rather than talk.  Talk is cheap but picture paints a thousand words.
