TIPS FOR PC OPERATION NC2 ASSESSMENT

PC Operation NC2 (PC Operation National Certification Level II) Assessment is composed of areas of competencies, namely (1) Operate a Word Processing Application, (2) Operate a Spreadsheet Application, (3) Operate a Presentation Package and (4) Operate Email and Search the Web Using Browser.  The assessment is composed of two parts, the first part is the demonstration which runs for 2 hours and the second part is the one-on-one interview with the assessor. 

The assessor may ask you to perform several skills or ask your underpinning knowledge.  Here are the things you should expect in PC Operation NCII assessment:

 

OPERATE A WORD Processing Application

Creating Documents

  •      Creating a blank document
  •    Opening an existing document
  •      Saving a document in specified folder or directory

Formatting Documents

  •   Apply specified formatting to character/paragraph such as changing of font, font size, color, appearance etc.
  •   Learn to use the Styles and Formatting command which includes creating new styles and editing existing style.
  •     Used of numbered and bulleted lists
  •     Use of border, textboxes and shading
  •     Can perform spelling and grammar check

Changing Page Appearance and Layout

  •      Changing of margins, page size and orientation
  •      Inserting of page numbers, section breaks and page breaks
  •      Inserting of footnotes, cross-references and bookmarks.
  •      Creating table of contents
  •    Saving of documents in another file format. (e.g As Web Page, XML Document Rich Text File etc.)

Creating and Formatting Tables

  •     Inserting table into document
  •     Adding or deleting of rows and columns
  •   Formatting table cells
  •   Copying of table

Inserting Object

  •  Inserting image (clipart/picture)
  • Inserting Wordart and other objects
  •  Resizing, positioning, and cropping of image

Customizing Basic Setting

  • Activating and de-activating of toolbars

Basic Knowledge in Using Mail Merge

Previewing of document before printing

Print document according to specification (setting of pages to be printed and number of copies to be printed).

 

OPERATE A SPREADSHEET APPLICATION 

 

Creating Spreadsheet

  • Creating a new worksheet
  •  Entering data into worksheet
  • Creating formula
  •  Cells, columns and row formatting
  • Saving of workbook in a specified folder or directory

Customize Basic Settings

  • Adjusting page layout (margins, orientation, paper size)
  • Activating and de-activating of toolbars

Format Worksheet

  • Basic text/paragraph formatting (font style, size, color, appearance)
  •  Application of borders, shading, and backgrounds.
  •  Formatting of decimal places, comma and currency symbol

Inserting objects

  • Creating chart according to the specified data.
  • Use of different chart (bar, column, pie, line etc.)
  • Formatting of chart based on the data in the worksheet
  • Inserting of images (clipart/picture)

Familiarize commonly used formula other than arithmetic function (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division).

Print Worksheet

  • Setting the print area
  • Inserting of header and footer
  • Printing of worksheet according to specification

PC Operation NC II

National Certification (NC) is a TESDA program for middle level skills development.  NC Level assessment is a process of determining the qualification level and certification level of a person based on competency assessment.  It measures the person’s possession and application of knowledge, skills and attitudes to perform work activities to the standard expected in the workplace.  Competencies within a specific level of qualification are small units of work that can merit a person/worker a job after completion. Therefore, completion of a certain competency would assure the industry that a person/worker can perform a specific task/work.

The assessment is Sector based, meaning you only have take assessment in your area of expertise.  For ICT (Information and Communication Technology) are Animation NC II, Animation (3D Digital) NC III, Animation (2D Digital) NC III, Cable TV (CATV) Installation NC II, Contact Center Services NC II (for call centers), Computer Hardware Servicing NC II (for Computer Technician), PC Operations NC II , and Programming NC IV.

The PCOp NC II (PC Operation National Certification) Qualification consists of competencies that will allow effective and efficient use of personal computers where use of word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation software is required including access to email and the use of web browsers for searching and locating data and information on the Internet.  To attain the National Qualification Level II for PC Operations, the candidate must demonstrate competence in all the four Core Competencies.  Successful candidates shall be awarded a National Certificate signed by the TESDA Director General.

Anyone who is aspiring have the qualification of PC Operations NC II must acquire Certificate of Competency (COC) in all individual core units of the Qualification. The four core competencies are the following:

  • Operate word-processing application
  • Operate spreadsheet application
  • Operate presentation package
  • Operate e-mail and search web using browsers 

If the candidates have COCs for these four core competencies he/she is now illegible for the National Certificate for PC Operation Level II.

A person who has achieved this Qualification is competent to be:

  • Office clerks and assistants
  • Data-entry encoders and typists
  • PC operators
